Teen Wolf series review

Teen Wolf. Two simple words that brings a smile to some people’s faces. Some people may think about the infamous film starring Michael J. Fox and Jerry Levine, but to others they will think of Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien, Colton Haynes, Tyler Hoechlin and Holland Roden, or as they much better known by their character names Scott McCall, Stiles Stilinski, Jackson Whittemore, Derek Hale and Lydia Martin.

Having watched the entire five seasons Teen Wolf in the past three or so weeks, I’ve watched every nook and cranny of the show. Some episodes I was surprised to see how connected everything is such as the mention of the Wild Hunt at the start of season 5a which is going to be revealed in Season 6.

The great thing about Teen Wolf is the talented cast who all shine individually or as a group. Another thing is how new cast members who join the show in later seasons just blend in with the rest of the cast (Daniel Sharman, Dylan Sprayberry, Arden Cho).

15589872_375937926091670_7887006394246425070_nAs we all know, the cast of the show has definitely changed over the past five/six years of the show. The first to leave was Jill Wagner (Kate Argent) after she was killed by Peter Hale. The next to leave was Colton Haynes (Jackson Whittemore) in season 2 after he became a werewolf, the news of him leaving was a shock for many of us wanted to see Jackson with all of his werewolf abilities, but unfortunately he left the show to star on Arrow. Many fans of the show want to see Jackson return even for one episode or just the finale.

Another person to leave was Eaddy Mays who played the cold and harsh mother of Allison, after she gets bitten. Over the course of the show we’ve all lost Allison Argent after she saved Issac from being killed herself. This death still has a rippling affect of her friends and definitely her family, especially Chris Argent.

15621925_373768582975271_5983355747178625165_nSeason 3 saw a complete change in the whole Teen Wolf dynamic, especially the format of the show itself. There were 24 episodes instead of the usual 12, but were split over Part 1 and Part 2, each having their story arcs. We are introduced to Malia Tate who started off as a werecoyote and soon revealed to be the daughter of Peter Hale and the enemy, The Desert Wolf, and Kira Yukimura who discovers that she is a kitsune of the lightning kind. We also several new mythologies being explored in this season as well, the werejaguar mythology, the kitsune mythology and evolutions of characters as well.

Season 4 started a couple of months after season3 and are still reeling from the losses of Allison, Boyd, Erica and Aiden. The group returned to a new term at school with more human worries rather than supernatural ones, but were also helping Malia readjust to being back into society. 15492425_372419313110198_2367111992202189969_nHowever, nothing can stay quiet for long, Kate Argent’s surprising resurrection brings a new threat to Beacon Hills along with the emergence of another very mysterious enemy known as The Benefactor. Scott has to uphold the responsibilty of his first Beta Werewolf, Liam Dunbar who was unwillingly turned. This season had a variety of characters that made appearances: Cody Saintgue as Brett Talbot, Tom T. Choi as Ken Yukimura, Maya Eshet as Meredith Walker, Mason Dye as Garrett, Matthew Del Negro as Agent Rafael McCall, Samantha Logan as Violet, Tamlyn Tomita as Noshiko Yukimura, Lily Mariye as Satomi Ito, Ian Nelson as young Derek Hale, John Posey as Dr Fenris and Steven Brand as Dr Valack.

15219536_365194443832685_1082108138315834801_nSeason 5 just like Season 3 had been split into two parts and consisted of 10 episodes each, but unlike Season 3, Season 5 Part 1 and 2 were connected. This season saw Scott McCall and his friends on the eve of their senior year and the possibilties their futures might take the following year with one another. Little do they know that outside forces are already devicing away to break the pack apart long before they even graduate. Brand new villians that use a frightening combination of science and supernatural for their own malevolent purposes that will put Scott and his pack agaist their greatest enemy yet. This season gave a glimpse into the Argent legend of the Beast of Gevaudan which was a great addition to the lore the werewolf mythology.

15193632_365015307183932_6914387125353130255_nSeason 6 just like the previous season will be split in two again, but each will tell a different story and will consist of 10-episode arcs. This is, unfortunately, the last season and will bring the entire show to an end. Scott, Stiles, Lydia, Malia and the rest of the gang are returning to Beacon Hills High for the second semester of senior year, this year everyone is feeling a bit emotional and anxious as they get closer to graduation and parting ways almost becomes a reality, but first there is an unearthly force of nature running amock through Beacon Hills. The first of these villians are the Ghost Riders aka The Wild Hunt.

The final episodes will begin airing on the 3rd January.
